Staff Updates

Goodbye 2020 and hello, 2021! The Muse is excited to kick off the new year with an exciting announcement about our team.

First, we want to thank Rebekah Coxwell for her hard work with our Youth Program and congratulate her on her new teaching position at Nansemond River High School in Suffolk. The school system is very lucky to have you! Not to worry, Rebekah will still be teaching with at The Muse, we refuse to let her leave us completely.

Welcome, Remy Smidt as our new Youth Coordinator. Remy has been a star intern for us over the last year and also taught adults, young writers and teens in our Writing Programs. She is currently an MFA student at Columbia University in New York City and we are super excited to have her on our team.

And our events and community coordinator, Susan Deutsch is being promoted to the full-time position of Program Manager for The Muse. The short time she worked with us in the Fall, proved she would be an asset to our organization in a full-time position.

And one more addition to our team to celebrate – Long time Muse student, volunteer, intern, janitor, and friend, Charles Rhodes has accepted the position of Head Librarian. Our Library has tripled in size since 2016, and The Muse is excited to see what Charles has planned for its future.
