Senior Outreach Programs

The Muse Writers Centers bring classes into senior communities across Hampton Roads. We believe in the healing power of creative writing and the arts to help seniors combat isolation, loneliness, and the enhancement of cognitive functioning and well-being. Our classes encourage older adults to express themselves through spoken and written word. We agree with studies that suggest senior citizens that continue to express themselves through creativity have a lower rate of cognitive decline.

We offer classes in memoir writing, fiction, poetry, and expressive arts. We host several public readings that give seniors an opportunity to showcase their work. We believe that writing in community fosters growth and wellness at any age.
