Thank you to everyone who donated, shared, liked, and/or sent great energy our way during Give Local 757, on Tuesday, May 10, 2022! This year, we raised more than $38,000 from more than 560 generous donors! And we won the 3rd place grant prize. Our anonymous donor was impressed, and even though we didn't reach the match amount, they will donate an extra $10,000 to The Muse and save the other $10,000 match for our Giving Tuesday fundraiser on November 29.

Our Need

We are Hampton Roads’ only literary center, and your generous donation will immediately help fund both the technology and sustainability we need to move beyond the coronavirus crisis. In a time when our community is isolated from one another, education and artistic enrichment is vital.

Did You Know?

The Muse provides more than $28,000 in tuition assistance and scholarships to nearly 300 students, and helps send 5 people to college each year. We offer nearly 300 classes and serve more than 1,500 students (from age 6 to post-retirement) each year, and The Muse helps give writers a voice, organizing readings, open mics, and writers events that reach more than 16,000 adults, teens, and kids. We're expanding our outreach to senior living communities, youth programs & schools, and military & veterans groups. The Muse is Hampton Roads' only literary center and is ranked in the top-10 in the country! Your donation will help us continue to serve the community. We need your support!

Donations after May 11 are still trickling in, but as of 10 a.m., Friday, May 14, we raised $34,463.93 from 602 generous donors and counting. This includes two $757 grant prizes from the Foundation.

The anonymous donor who had made the $35,000/$15,000 challenge was very impressed by the community's support of The Muse and the 24-hour livestream/webinar the staff put together. Plus they understand that donations are still coming in, and they figure we'll easily pass our $35,000 goal, so they have agreed to donate the $15,000 challenge amount!

The Muse provides more than $28,000 in tuition assistance and scholarships to nearly 300 students, and helps send 5 people to college each year. We offer nearly 300 classes and serve more than 1,400 students (from age 6 to post-retirement) each year, and The Muse helps give writers a voice, organizing readings, open mics, and writers events that reach more than 13,000 adults, teens, and kids. We're expanding our outreach to senior living communities, youth programs & schools, and military & veterans groups. Did you know? The Muse provides more than $28,000 in tuition assistance and scholarships to nearly 250 students, and helps send 3 people to college each year. We offer nearly 300 classes and serve more than 1,200 students (from age 6 to post-retirement) each year, and The Muse helps give writers a voice, organizing readings, open mics, and writers events that reach more than 7,000 adults, teens, and kids each year. We're expanding our outreach to senior living communities, youth programs & schools, and military & veterans groups. Thank you to everyone who donated, shared, liked, and/or sent great energy our way during Give Local 757 2016! Our goal was to raise $10,000 (in 2015, we raised $8,700 with 156 donors; and in 2014, we raised $3,000 with 48 donors). This year, we raised more than $12,800 from about 239 generous donors!

In 24-ish hours, we raised $8,610.75 online, $700 in offline donations (when the national server got picked for jury duty), $1,514 in bonus donations, and then, among 223 other nonprofits, we won a $2,000 donation prize for having the third highest number (225) of online donors. That means you, and we really, really appreciate it.

Special Prize to Donors: We three names from our list of donors to win one of three gift certificates for a free Muse seminar. The winners are: Sarah Hill, Mary Wilt, and Michael Shaw.
