Military & Veteran Outreach Programs
Join us on Saturday, September 27 for a fantastic reading featuring 5 published authors who served in the armed forces!
The Muse Writers Center is fortunate to provide writing and wellness classes to the military of Hampton Roads, the home of the world’s largest military bases and populations of veterans. We are an inclusive, accessible, and thriving community as we partner with other military organizations/installations and military affiliated arts organizations such as:
- American Red Cross
- Armed Services Arts Partnership
- Herbert Bateman Library, Langley Air Force Base
- Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at the Up Center
- HerStory
- Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story Libraries
- Wounded Warrior Project
Service members, veterans, and family members in our classes gain writing skills, confidence, resiliency, and connection. We have seen the power of creative writing, and the arts help our valued members of the community to deal with the challenges of military life and retirement. Service members, veterans, and family members in our classes gain writing skills, confidence, resiliency, and connection.
We offer classes in-person, virtually, and on area military bases to eliminate barriers to attending classes and events at The Muse. Our marketing activities ensure that military personnel, their families, and caregivers are included in our area’s larger writing community of events and programs such as open-mic nights, book launches, social gatherings, guest lectures, classes, and clubs.
