Sheila Sheppard is pursuing an MFA in Creative Nonfiction at ODU and studied English, Music, and Art at the College of William and Mary. She is writing a memoir about hiking the Appalachian Trail, and has been experimenting with poetry, short fiction, and filmmaking. A professional musician, Sheila plays violin for weddings and special events, and plays fiddle and sings with Grassafras, a string band. Sheila is trained in Reiki and GIM (The Bonney Method of Guided Imagery and Music), and offers these therapeutic modalities to her clients at Paloma Healing, her practice on the Eastern Shore. Against sage advice she is following her three passions—music, writing, and healing—and is mostly okay with not knowing yet where they will lead. She lives in Cape Charles with her pre-schooler, Aven, and can often be found flatfootin' at Lemon Tree Gallery.
