Denise Murden
I identify as an advocate, caregiver, and writer always open to new experiences and perspectives. I have lived at 30 different addresses in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Germany. My claim to writer fame is that I studied under Lee Gutkind, "the godfather of creative non-fiction," when he first started teaching in the early 1970s. I proudly served my Nation as a federal employee for 36 years and won a Cabinet level award under the Obama Administration for diversity work I did in the U.S. Coast Guard. I now live in Suffolk, VA, with my husband and near my adult daughter who I adopted in Romania in 1993. I write memoir, essays, and op-eds.
