Getting Started (or Restarted) on a Novel

Do you have an idea for a novel, but you’re not sure how to start writing it? Or maybe you’ve already written a draft but got bogged down and can’t figure out what to write next. It happens to all of us! Come along as we tame these pesky demons and help you start (or restart) your novel project and turn it into a workable draft. We’ll explore what’s needed for a good story, discuss plotting methods, story and character arcs, backstory, red herrings, detail, justification, and more. Afterward, you’ll know what’s needed, and perhaps more importantly, what’s not needed to build a novel. This lets you focus your efforts on writing material that tells your story and helps you avoid wasting valuable time.

The MuseTeacher: Rick Eley

Prerequisite: Open to writers of all levels of experience
