Fall 2022 Class Schedule Announced!
In-Person, Online, & Hybrid Classes
- In In-person classes, everyone will meet at our physical center.
- Hybrid classes are where it's your choice whether to attend In-Person or through Zoom each class meeting. We have installed an excellent hybrid system to ensure both In-Person and Zoom students have the same great experience. The instructor will host the class in a physical Muse classroom.
- Online classes meet over Zoom; you can take them from anywhere.
What Should You Take Next?
In most of our genre areas, we have created a "#3" and "#2" class that comes in between the "#1" class-level and the workshop-level. If you don't see a higher-level class in your genre, then it's fine to move to the workshop-level. If you are already in the workshop-level, it's fine to stay with your teacher or explore other teachers or genres.

Boozy Book Fair @ Reaver NFK
Reaver NFK is teaming up with our favorite local intersectional feminist bookstore & bottle shop, Eleanor's Norfolk, to bring you a Boozy Book Fair. A lineup of local booksellers will take over Reaver's taproom for the evening and a curated beer cocktail list inspired by some of Eleanor's NFK's favorite authors.

Show & Grow Your Prose
Join The Muse and Hampton Roads Writers for Show and Grow Your Prose. Presenters will read 10 minutes of their material, which will be followed by another ten minutes of feedback from our guest critiquers Lauran Strait and Michael Khandelwal. Reading slots are limited, and deadline to submit is Sept. 9 at 3 p.m. Non-presenting audience members are both welcome and encouraged to attend. Material is displayed on the auditorium screen so everyone can read along.

Are you a teen? Do you like writing? Then join us at The Muse every 2nd and 4th Monday for the Teen Writers Club! This casual meet-up is part social hangout and part writing. The club is open to all teens with an interest in any creative writing form, including songwriting, comics, fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and anything else word related. You don't need to be a Muse student to participate.

The Hampton Roads Writers Conference is live and in-person this year, September 22-24 in Virginia Beach. Now in its 14th year, the conference features 3 days of workshops, 2 best-selling keynoters (Edmund R. Schubert & Wendy H. Jones), 2 first-ten-lines critique sessions, 50+ workshops during 10 breakout sessions, ten-minute agent pitches, cash prize contests for short fiction, short nonfiction, and poetry, complimentary 90-minute cocktail social, 2-hour open mic. - The Muse Writers Center's physical space is open for people to write, meet others, and learn more about The Muse four days a week: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. See our Locations, Hours, & Directions page for more information.
- You must be vaccinated (those 12 and older) to enter The Muse's physical space. You are no longer required to wear a mask, though it is encouraged.
- The Muse has installed is installing an iWave-R air purification system that uses needlepoint bipolar ionization (NPBI) cold plasma technology to sanitize the air, killing viruses, bacteria, and mold.
