Time to Register for a Summer Class

We have an amazing Summer 2021 online class, workshop, and seminar schedule that starts in June and runs through August. You can find the right class for you by genre or in a searchable calendar and register now. Tuition assistance and flexibility is always available if you need it.

You'll find our introductory classes, workshops, and studios in Poetry, Fiction, Memoir & Creative Nonfiction, Screenwriting, Comics/Graphic Novels, Storytelling, Songwriting, as well as many great classes for Kids and Teens. Plus we have a great series of all-new craft, creativity, research, and professional development seminars... and this summer, all 1-meeting seminars are only $35!

The Muse Neighborhood Jam

Do you want to serve with a team of dedicated Board members to advance the literary arts in Hampton Roads? We are currently seeking candidates with a strong sense of commitment and dedication to advancing our mission.

The Muse Writers Center relies on the experience, vision, and leadership of our Board of Directors to guide and ensure continued growth, development, and financial health. The Board is comprised of community leaders with expertise in a wide range of areas, including education, finance, law, advocacy, fund development, and business management. Board officers and members serve three-year terms, and lead or support various governing and outreach committees. The Board meets quarterly and officers meet monthly.

If you are passionate about the literary arts and have the time, energy and resources to contribute to our dynamic organization, please learn more about our Board of Directors and submit an Expression of Interest. We hope you’ll consider serving with us and be part of the legacy of advancing the literary arts in our community.

As people are becoming vaccinated, The Muse Writers Center is gradually re-opening its physical space. Our summer classes will remain online.
  • For the month of June, we will be open on Tuesdays from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. for people to use our space to write, meet others, and learn more about The Muse.
  • Beginning July 13, we will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • The Muse has installed is installing an iWave-R air purification system that uses needlepoint bipolar ionization (NPBI) cold plasma technology to sanitize the air, killing viruses, bacteria, and mold.
