What Should You Take Next?
In most of our genre areas, we have created a "#2" class that comes in between the "#1" class-level and the workshop-level. If you don't see a "#2"-level class in your genre, then it's fine to move to the workshop-level. If you are already in the workshop-level, it's fine to stay with your teacher or explore other teachers or genres.

The Hampton Roads Writers Conference is live and in-person this year, September 23-25 in Virginia Beach. Now in its 13th year, the conference features 1 evening plus 2 full days of workshops, 2 best-selling keynoters (Leslye Penelope & Andrew Bertaina), 2 first-ten-lines critique sessions, 50+ workshops during 10 breakout sessions, ten-minute agent pitches, cash prize contests for short fiction, short nonfiction, and poetry, complimentary 90-minute cocktail social, 2-hour open mic. Congratulations Scholarship Winners!
Congratulations to graduate students D'Andrea Brady and Sierra Foltz and undergraduate student, Mira Dover, recipients of the 2021-22 Joan Rorke-McClure Futures Scholarships.
|
The scholarship have been established through a generous donation from William McClure. Joan Rorke-McClure was a leading physician, lover of education, and friend to The Muse who always encouraged and helped foster a passion for learning. These scholarships are available to current and past students at the Muse Writers Center to help pay a portion of their tuition/expenses for beginning or continuing undergraduate or graduate study in creative writing or a related field.

Please Note: So we can attend the Hampton Roads Writers Conference, this week we will be closing on Thursday at 5 p.m. and will not be open on Saturday.

- The Muse Writers Center's physical space is open for people to write, meet others, and learn more about The Muse four days a week: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. See our Locations, Hours, & Directions page for more information.
- You must be vaccinated (those 12 and older) to enter The Muse's physical space. You are required to wear a mask upon entering. Once inside, if you are in a room by yourself, you may remove your mask. But if two or more are gathered in one room or public space, you must wear a mask.
- The Muse has installed is installing an iWave-R air purification system that uses needlepoint bipolar ionization (NPBI) cold plasma technology to sanitize the air, killing viruses, bacteria, and mold.

During the Coronavirus in-person shutdown, the staff of The Muse Writers Center has been busy preparing for our eventual re-opening. We are re-organizing our library, assembling more comfortable furniture for our classrooms, and more.

Sponsorships can be made in honor of or in memory of someone special. Credit cards and checks are accepted. You can sponsor more than one item or room, and can split larger sponsorships into payments.
