Plus we have a great series of all-new craft, creativity, research, and professional development seminars. And the return of In-Person Camps for Youth, Teens, and Adults.

In-Person, Online, & Hybrid Classes
- In In-person classes, everyone will meet at our physical center.
- Hybrid classes are where it's your choice whether to attend In-Person or through Zoom each class meeting. We have installed an excellent hybrid system to ensure both In-Person and Zoom students have the same great experience. The instructor will host the class in a physical Muse classroom.
- Online classes meet over Zoom; you can take them from anywhere.

Are you looking for a little inspiration? Come on down (virtually), join The Muse and York County Public Library and Write Now! A talented and qualified Muse teacher will lead you through an easy, fun, and creative workshop full of writing prompts and creative sharing. Free registration required.

Hampton Roads PrideFest
Hampton Roads PrideFest is a public celebration providing Virginians with the opportunity to unify through the celebration of inclusion and equality. PrideFest is one of the largest in the Mid-Atlantic and one of the largest festivals in Hampton Roads drawing 40,000 LGBTQ Community members and allies. Come visit the Muse table and pick up some free goodies, spin the prize wheel, make some magnetic poetry, and just generally soak up the (rainbow) vibes!

Alisha Brown's "Call of Adventure" Closing Reception
The Call of Adventures is a dramatic and colorful collection of art created by Alisha Brown. Her art has been brightening the days for the staff at the Muse during this tumultuous last year. Please join us as we celebrate her work at The Muse for this closing reception. Light refreshments will be served.

Teen Writers Club
Are you a teen? Do you like writing? Then join us at The Muse every 2nd and 4th Monday for the Teen Writers Club! This casual meet-up is part social hangout and part writing. The club is open to all teens with an interest in any creative writing form, including songwriting, comics, fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and anything else word related. You don’t need to be a Muse student to participate

Thought Radio at Slover Library
Join Muse teacher and local musician Skye Zentz for this free online program at Slover Library! In ThoughtRadio, we'll explore our emotional selves while taking the time to play with different perspectives outside of our own. Free registration required.

Writers Coffee Break
Join us as we come back together and meet in-person for our monthly 1st Friday Writers Coffee Breaks at Cafe Stella in Ghent. At these informal get-togethers, area writers and Muse teachers, students, and friends enjoy conversation and camaraderie over a (perhaps much needed) coffee break. College & Grad School Scholarships
If you are a current or former Muse student starting or continuing undergraduate or graduate education in creative writing, you are welcome to apply for one of our Joan Rorke-McClure Futures Scholarships. The deadline is August 15, 2022. Please complete the online form to apply.

- The Muse Writers Center's physical space is open for people to write, meet others, and learn more about The Muse four days a week: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. See our Locations, Hours, & Directions page for more information.
- You must be vaccinated (those 12 and older) to enter The Muse's physical space. You are no longer required to wear a mask, though it is encouraged.
- The Muse has installed is installing an iWave-R air purification system that uses needlepoint bipolar ionization (NPBI) cold plasma technology to sanitize the air, killing viruses, bacteria, and mold.

During the Coronavirus in-person shutdown, the staff of The Muse Writers Center has been busy preparing for our eventual re-opening. We are re-organizing our library, assembling more comfortable furniture for our classrooms, and more.

All sponsorships are tax-deductible and all donors will be acknowledged with a thank you plaque on the item(s) or room(s) sponsored. Sponsorships can be made in honor of or in memory of someone special. Credit cards and checks are accepted. You can sponsor more than one item or room, and can split larger sponsorships into payments.
