Words for Wellness Outreach Programs

We believe in the positive power of creativity to bring about change, resiliency, and wellness. We believe that being creative is your birthright and actively engaging the imagination through creative writing and mindfulness is healthy, life-giving, and helps us stay connected to our own innate wisdom. We often refer to this as creative (intuition), which we believe lies within every one of us. Whether you have a strong relationship with creative writing, or you stopped expressing yourself through writing as a child, we welcome you to participate in our workshops.

Through our Words for Wellness programming, we offer creative writing and arts classes that emphasis self-care, wellbeing, and transformation. We offer classes and events at The Muse to help those struggling with grief, trauma, mental health, and overall wellness.

We are also honored to serve the larger community by offering outreach writing for wellness-based classes at partner locations including:

  • Brock Cancer Center
  • LGBTQ Community Center
  • Mercy Drops (homeless pantry)
  • Ronald McDonald House
  • United Methodist Church Survivors Group (Chesapeake)
  • Urban Renewal Center (homeless shelter)
  • YWCA (women’s shelters)
  • and many others
