We Celebrate Pride Every Month!

The Muse enjoyed partaking in two wonderful Pride celebrations this June. Ghent Pride gave back to the community by raising money for nonprofits that benefit the LGBTQ+ community. Thank you to the GBA for supporting The Muse and so many other wonderful organizations. The Muse also had a blast on a hot but fun day at Town Point Park for Hampton Roads Pridefest 2024. It is important to acknowledge the impact LGBTQ+ individuals have had on our shared history and culture.  Let’s continue to celebrate diversity, inclusion, and self-acceptance all year round.

In July, read a book by an LGBTQ+ author. Muse Teacher, Lizz Schumer finds several authors to recommend their favorite LGBTQ+ books for People Magazine. These are diverse voices and stories that resonate year-round. Recommendations include Steven Rowley’s “The Bump,” a tale of impending fatherhood, Byron Lane’s mystery “Hall of Mirrors,” and Christina Clancy’s family-focused “The Guncle Abroad.” These books explore themes of love, identity, and self-discovery, offering readers a range of experiences from poignant family dynamics to gripping mysteries. The list aims to enrich readers’ understanding and appreciation of LGBTQ+ narratives.
