Phoenix Banks

Phoenix Banks is a youth poet and author. She has won multiple awards, including being a 2024 Muse Teen Writing Fellow, the former 2-time Hampton Roads Youth Poet Laureate for Chesapeake, 1st in the 2024 Poetry Longwood Young Writer's Award, Original Pharaoh Phifteen Member, 2024 AP Scholar, and a 2023 College Board's National African American Recognition Award Recipient. Phoenix has also recorded a video in collaboration with the National Training & Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC)'s Amplify Youth Voice Video Performance. Alongside this, she has been published in poet Synnika Lofton's 'We Were Supposed to be Quiet' poetry collection of female Virginia authors. When she is not writing, she is spending her time working with clubs and organizations, including being President of Beta Club, Vice President of Creative Writing Club, President of the International Baccalaureate Leadership Committee, Debate Captain, and National Honor Society Newsletter Committee Chair at her school. Phoenix will be attending the University of Virginia in the fall of 2025 to pursue a degree in English. She is the middle child of five children and loves spending time with her family and friends!
