Dorothy Edwards
Dorothy Edwards is an interfaith hospice chaplain, providing comfort to people of all faiths--including no faith at all. Dorothy guides people towards inner peace by inviting them to tell their stories. Dorothy was born and raised in Norfolk's Ghent, by parents who were born and raised in Ghent. Then Dorothy raised her four children in Ghent. As an at home mother, she spent thousands of hours volunteering for schools, churches, and sports leagues. She taught and/or substituted at West Ghent School for nearly 30 years, teaching many former students to surf as well. As a competitor in the Eastern Surfing Association, she was ranked as one of the top senior women surfers for over a decade in both Virginia and on the Outer Banks. During one contest on Hatteras Island, she scored a perfect 10 for a perfect drop and tuck tube ride. Now she helps others metaphorically drop into the quiet calm of a tube ride, nestled inside the chaos.
