Lissette Lorenz
Lissette Lorenz creates speculative fabulations at the intersection of art, science, and the environment. Their work can be found in Art + Media: Journal of Art and Media Studies, JCOM: Journal of Science Communication, and Objet-a Creative Studio’s BECOMING trilogy. Using mixed media, they blend poetry, prose, zine-making, and collage to explore themes of Earthly un/worlding during times of planetary transition. Lissette was born and raised in Miami, Florida, a bioregion that has been transformed from Everglades wetland to teetering metropolis. A child of Latin American immigrants fleeing war and poverty, they grew up somewhere between princess-like Disney World fantasies and complicated post-colonial realities. They also lived in Tokyo, New York City, and New Orleans before settling in Virginia Beach with their partner and many, many plants. Find more at lissettelorenz.com.
