Billy Hallal

Billy Hallal was born in Cleveland. He obtained an MFA in fiction from Florida State University and, since then, has worked as a tutor, a barback, a live-in group home supervisor, and a digital literacy instructor. He has worked as an editor on the literary journals Southeast Review and Barnhouse. His fiction and nonfiction have appeared in venues like The Normal School, HAD, PopMatters, and Thrillist. In 2020, he was awarded an Individual Excellence Award in fiction from the Ohio Arts Council. Currently, he lives in Norfolk with his wife and writes grants for a local nonprofit. He is working on his first novel.
