Jason Carney

Jason Ray Carney teaches popular literature and creative writing at Christopher Newport University. His academic study of pulp fiction, Weird Tales of Modernity: The Ephemerality of Ordinary in the Stories of Robert E. Howard, Clark Ashton Smith, and H.P. Lovecraft, is forthcoming from McFarland Academic Press (Summer 2019). He has published scholarly articles on several topics: pulp fiction, horror, science fiction, and fantasy. Additionally, he is co-editor of the academic journal, The Dark Man: Journal of Robert E. Howard and Pulp Studies. He has published pulp fiction in Skelos: Journal of Weird Fiction and Dark Fantasy, Heroic Fantasy Quarterly, Phantaxis: Science Fiction and Fantasy Magazine, Swords and Sorcery Magazine, Cirsova: Heroic Fantasy, Science Fiction Magazine, and others. Jason earned his Ph.D. in English from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
