Meg Eden Kuyatt is a 2020 Pitch Wars mentee, and her work is published or forthcoming in magazines including Prairie Schooner, Poetry Northwest, Crab Orchard Review, RHINO and CV2. She teaches creative writing at Anne Arundel Community College. She is the author of five poetry chapbooks, the novel “Post-High School Reality Quest” (2017), and the poetry collection “Drowning in the Floating World” (2020).
This summer, Meg Eden Kuyatt is teaching A New Angle: Playing with Point of View on Saturday, June 12 at 1-3:30pm EST. This class will explore stories that use unique perspectives, and take part in a writing exercise to get ideas on what perspectives could transform your own stories.
Meg is also teaching Revising with Focus: the Thesis of the Novel on Saturday, June 19 at 1-3:30pm EST. This class will discuss the “thesis statement” approach to editing, looking at examples of novels’ “thesis statements,” as well as providing exercises to help you identify and hone in on your novel’s thesis.
Meg Eden Kuyatt is very interactive and hands on in her classes. She want to make sure my classes address your specific questions, and gives plenty of time for questions and prompts.
Here’s why Meg thinks you should take her classes:
I really try to give you the best bang for your buck for your time, and work hard to create curricula that are thorough, specific and give actionable advice. I have a lot of experience as both a writer and educator, and am a published novelist and poet—all of these I think give me a unique perspective as a writing instructor. Plus–I always want my classes to be fun!
Who are Meg Eden Kuyatt’s favorite authors?
Meg loves so much contemporary MG and YA—kidlit books aren’t afraid to tackle some pretty uncomfortable but important topics! But she also loves some classics, namely Charles Dickens, Bleak House and Great Expectations. The themes are just as applicable today as they were then!
