Jacob’s classes are for writers of all ages and styles looking to jump into the craft. Expect engaging lessons, readings and exercises based on various writing elements.

Favorite authors, books, and stories:

  • “Catch 22” by Joseph Heller, for its absurdity, its complex style, and masterful voice
  • Raymond Carver’s short stories, with his faintly Hemmingway-esque style and suburban focus, have been ever useful for discussion
  • “The Things They Carried” by Tim O’Brien, which remains one of the most powerful short stories I’ve read
