Your Very Own Memory Remote Control: A Workshop in Memoir and Remembering
You own what happened to you. Your life is yours to tell. In this single session generative workshop, we explore the power of memory in memoir writing. Grab your memory remote control—you can play, pause, rewind, and fast-forward through the scenes of your life. Using sense memory, consensual memories, and other self-explorative techniques, you’ll learn to locate those moments worth revisiting and bring them to life on the page through guided writing exercises. You’ll engage all five senses to discover the intimate details that make your story uniquely yours. We’ll work with familiar locations, recurring family moments, universal experiences, and the photos that hold our history. Whether you’re a beginner memoirist or a seasoned writer, this workshop will help you access the emotional truth of your lived experience and transform it into compelling, vivid writing. Come ready to remember, to write, and to discover what your memories want to tell.
