Writing Diversely

Are you an author who wants to write own voices stories but you’re not sure whether you should? Or are you an author who wants to write point of view (POV) characters who do not share your ethnic background, but you’re not sure if you should? In this seminar, we will explore the hard questions of whether you should make that leap. The main focus of this class will be on race and ethnicity. Students will engage with critical race theory, creative writing, and explore the current publishing landscape as they engage in writing exercises where they can arrive at a confident conclusion for themselves.

Please note: This class or event will be held online (using Zoom or a similar live platform). To participate, students or attendees should have a stable internet connection. Class participants: you should have a computer or device with a webcam and microphone; and your Zoom link will be automatically sent to you after you register.

Prerequisite: Open to: writers of all levels of experience
