Write and Celebrate: Poems for Special Occasions

Writing an occasion poem is both a fun challenge and a beautiful way to celebrate and commemorate graduations, weddings, anniversaries, births, and other milestones. We can remix old traditions and celebrate what’s unique about our own families.

At this workshop writers will consider a few examples of occasion poems and learn strategies for writing a memorable read-aloud poem. There will be plenty of time to draft occasion poems (with the option to share them aloud) and to explore revision pathways.

Please note: This class or event will be held online (using Zoom or a similar live platform). To participate, students or attendees should have a stable internet connection. Class participants: you should have a computer or device with a webcam and microphone; and your Zoom link will be automatically sent to you after you register. Check your spam box if you don't see it.

The MuseTeacher: Ceridwen Hall
