About the Author

Anne Meek has published more than sixty poems in literary journals including The Small Farm, Phoenix, The Windless Orchard, Southbound, Plainsong, Ripples, Skipping Stones, and The Poet’s Domain. Her professional career has spanned years as a teacher of kindergarten, Head Start, and elementary and middle schools, as well as an elementary school principal and supervisor. Eventually, she became managing editor of Educational Leadership magazine and book acquisitions editor for the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development. She always brought her love of poetry into the classroom and organized the first Poet-in-the-Schools event in Knoxville, Tennessee, and continued before and after her retirement to visit classrooms all over Tennessee and Virginia as an informal ambassador for poetry. More recently, she has been on the boards of the Cultural Alliance of Hampton Roads and Hampton Roads Writers. She lives in Norfolk, Virginia, though she hearkens from Martin, Tennessee.

This event is hosted by Hampton Roads Writers in partnership with The Muse Writers Center.
