The Shared Word Poetry Workshop
The Shared Word Poetry Workshop
“This is the world I want to live in. The shared world.” (from “Gate A-4” by Naomi Shihab Nye, 2025 National Poetry Month poster) April is National Poetry Month, so let’s celebrate what poetry does best—unifies. In this workshop for new and returning members who have poetry writing experience, we will read and discuss work by Joy Harjo, Naomi Shihab Nye, Ösel Jessica Plante, and Jan LaPerle. These poets will expose us to vastly different writing styles, get us examining craft, and generate exciting writing prompts. This is a stimulating and safe environment in which to share your work and receive constructive feedback from me and from your peers. Individual interests and goals are very important, and this workshop will do its best to meet them! Poetry is a collective voice, a celebration of your dynamic and distinctive individual voices. Let your voice be heard.
