The Art of Spoken Word & Slam Poetry
Learn the art of spoken word poetry and become a better writer, reader, speaker.
Explore the history of poetry’s oral tradition including the cultural influences of the African Griot, the Irish Limerick, the Japanese Haiku, Gospel Preaching and American RAP.
Through discussion and practical exercise, students will also learn proven techniques in composition, memorization, and the performance of both individual and group poems for competitive Slam poetry.
