Relish and Replenish: A Poetry Workshop

In this workshop, participants will read work and learn from a selection of poets who write about hunger, nourishment, and the ways in which food circulates not only in our bodies but in a larger world of exchanges.

Who is hungry? How much do we need? Who is fed and full? What does it take to replenish and sustain, to heal and comfort? How might a stronger awareness of the senses open pathways of wider understanding and satisfaction in a poem? In writing toward such questions, we’ll hope to produce poems that address different aspects of hunger, as well as allow us to explore the idea of pleasure in and through language.

Participants will bring and share their own stories and food memories—those that have filled and sustained them, those that connect them to specific family, community, and cultural histories; and those that feed and organically flavor their language and writing.

Please note: This class or event is hybrid. Some attendees will be in-person and some will attend online. There may be a limited number of in-person seats available. If you are participating online (using Zoom or a similar live platform), students or attendees should have a stable internet connection. Class participants: you should have a computer or device with a webcam and microphone; and your Zoom link will be automatically sent to you after you register. Check your spam box if you don't see it.
