Queer Poetics
“In the crooks of your body, I find my religion” – Sappho. In this generative seminar, we will explore a condensed history of queer poetry, considered broadly as poetry written by queer (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, non-binary, etc.) people. From reading Sappho to looking at the work of contemporary queer writers, we will think about the myriad ways queer identities and/or experiences manifest on the page. We will look at many elements of queer poetics, including but not limited to: the erotic, the romantic, the political, the self-reflective, the experimental, the bodily, and more. There will be time built in to write, read, and share.
