Podcasts and Shorts: Advance Your Writing Through Producing

“In this class we will explore harnessing the power of podcasts and short films to showcase your writing. We will cover adapting existing material for audio and short form mediums, as well as tips and tricks for how to maximize each form. Information will include various pathways towards creating a podcast including recording, mixing, and casting on a budget, as well as a look at successful short film strategies for establishing a proof of concept. We will also cover how, as a writer, to transition into production, including the pathways towards bringing a full team on board to realize your vision.

The class will include time for participants to brainstorm ideas for podcasts and shorts with feedback from the instructor and peers. All participants will come away with a list of resources for creating your own content! Stop waiting for permission: let’s make the thing!

Please note: This class or event will be held online (using Zoom or a similar live platform). To participate, students or attendees should have a stable internet connection. Class participants: you should have a computer or device with a webcam and microphone; and your Zoom link will be automatically sent to you after you register.
