Podcasting 101: From Concept to Production
Have you ever wanted to start a podcast but didn’t know where to begin? In this four-session virtual class, hosts of Languaging in Hampton Roads—a podcast exploring life and language in the Tidwater Region—will guide you through the process of launching and producing a successful podcast using free resources.
Taught by Prue Salasky, who holds dual master’s degrees, including one in Applied Linguistics from ODU, this course combines expertise in journalism, education, and linguistics to provide a hands-on introduction to podcasting. You’ll learn essential journalism skills such as selecting compelling topics, conducting interviews, writing scripts, and structuring dialogue. The class will also cover teamwork, recording techniques, and basic sound editing to help you produce a polished final product.
Whether you’re interested in storytelling, journalism, or simply sharing your voice with the world, this class will equip you with the skills to create a dynamic and engaging podcast.
