Nonlinear Nonfiction
Nonlinear structure is a powerful tool within CNF that helps writers to make informed choices about context and meaning. Participants will develop a personally selected event from their past–mundane or important, according to their preferred level of disclosure—into evolving and interconnected drafts across several different CNF subgenres including: the braided essay, flash narratives, the essay-in-letters, and segmented and experimental memoirs.
While examining and experimenting within the genre, participants will reframe their chosen narrative to reflect six distinct nonlinear structures. Through this structural re-visioning, participants will develop nuanced themes and promote resonance in their nonfiction narratives.
Students interested may review a workshop outline before registering by contacting the instructor.
