Mapping the Unseen: Poetry, Cartography, and the Imagined City

How do we map the unmappable? This workshop explores the intersection of poetry, essay, and cartography through Calvino’s Invisible Cities, Cerrone’s operatic adaptation, and Solnit’s Infinite Cities. Through generative writing and spatial storytelling, students will craft poetic maps, reimagining place through language and form. Using a variety of media, participants will create a final project blending text and cartography (both geographical and imagined). Open to writers of all levels.

Please note: This class or event will be held online (using Zoom or a similar live platform). To participate, students or attendees should have a stable internet connection. Class participants: you should have a computer or device with a webcam and microphone; and your Zoom link will be automatically sent to you after you register.
