Making Minor Characters Sizzle (Now Online)

Please note: This class will now have online meetings. Your teacher will contact you with information on how to join the online classroom. To participate, students must have a stable internet connection with a computer or device with a webcam and microphone.

You might write a compelling hero and a truly terrifying antagonist. If your minor characters don’t jump off the page, however, your story can remain dry and dull for long patches of your writing. In this seminar, you’ll find ways to make them jump off the page, have identities and lives of their own, without challenging the dominance or importance of your hero. Learn how to make that bartender dazzle for the moment, that nurse in the hospital memorable, that bus driver unforgettable. Even more important find subtle ways to give them links to the main characters that will make them incidental yet intrinsic to your story.

The MuseTeacher: Jean Klein

Prerequisite: Open to: writers of all levels of experience
