Making a Genre Smoothie

Genre mashups are a hot trend in publishing, but crafting a novel that sits comfortably on two or more shelves is easier said than done. Every genre has specific expectations attached, and your story will disappoint or even anger their fans if you don’t meet them. This class will define the characteristics of various genres, explore popular blended plots, and identify overlaps and contrasts so you can hit all the marks of the genres in your blender and truly satisfy your readers.

Please note: This class or event will be held online (using Zoom or a similar live platform). To participate, students or attendees should have a stable internet connection. Class participants: you should have a computer or device with a webcam and microphone; and your Zoom link will be automatically sent to you after you register. Check your spam box if you don't see it.
