Front and Center: Writing Authentic LGBTQIA+ Main Characters

In this one-session creative writing workshop, we’ll explore how to craft authentic, dynamic LGBTQIA+ protagonists across all genres of fiction. Through writing exercises, discussion, and examples from contemporary authors, we’ll examine how identity can shape character, plot, and voice without relying on stereotypes. Whether you’re writing realism, romance, fantasy, or mystery, this class will help you develop characters that reflect the richness and diversity of the LGBTQIA+ experience. Writers of all levels and identities are welcome.

Please note: This class or event is hybrid. Some attendees will be in-person and some will attend online. There may be a limited number of in-person seats available. If you are participating online (using Zoom or a similar live platform), students or attendees should have a stable internet connection. Class participants: you should have a computer or device with a webcam and microphone; and your Zoom link will be automatically sent to you after you register. Check your spam box if you don't see it.
