Exploring “Hermit Crab” Poems
Hermit Crab poetry takes its name from the subgenre of creative non-fiction in which the writing takes refuge in a found form. From bingo boards to recipes to Punnett squares, any “shell” can become the creative home for a poem. What environments do different found forms offer to our writing? How do we, as writers, choose an effective container for our stories? These are some of the questions we will seek to answer in this class as we close read a variety of Hermit Crab poems and write our own poems that experiment with the surprising possibilities of found forms.
Please note: This class or event is in-person and will be held at our center.
