Dreaming the Miracle: Poetry, DADA, Surrealism, and Avant-Garde Beliefs & Practices

Explore the methods of making poetry through writing exercises and workshop discussions centering around “ekphrasis” & “incongruous compatibility” as a means for world building, in addition to writing through and about dreams (real or imagined). Readings will consist of a wide range of texts from writers like Rimbaud, Baudelaire, Desnos, & the OBEIRU, among others. This class will take place in person, offering the opportunity to be with other poets exploring these experimental forms together. Outdoor exploration will complement our discussions and creative practice. This workshop will commence in a reading and celebration of student work.

Teacher: Ashby Logan Hill

Prerequisite: Open to writers of all levels of experience
