Design Your Own Plague

Are you a horror writer struggling to create a germ to turn Earth’s population into zombies? Are you a science fiction writer who wants to design a Martian virus but you don’t know where to start? Are you writing historical fiction but you’re unsure what infectious diseases occurred during the time period you’re writing? Then this class is for you! We’ll go over the basics of infectious diseases, including a brief overview through pathogens and how they’re transmitted, and include exercises for creating your own for the story you’re working on. We’ll also review several infectious diseases in more depth for you to use as inspiration when creating a plague to turn your humans into zombies.

Please note: This class or event is hybrid. Some attendees will be in-person and some will attend online. There may be a limited number of in-person seats available. If you are participating online (using Zoom or a similar live platform), students or attendees should have a stable internet connection. Class participants: you should have a computer or device with a webcam and microphone; and your Zoom link will be automatically sent to you after you register. Check your spam box if you don't see it.
