CANCELLED Authentic Character Development (3 Sessions)

Suggested prerequisite: Character in Story (not required)

What makes a character unforgettable? In this three-session intensive, we’ll slow down and go deep – focusing on building one fully realized character for your novel, screenplay, or other project. Through case studies, guided exercises, and activity-based tools, you’ll explore your character’s psyche, motivation, fears, and contradictions.

We’ll look at how memory, trauma, and desire shape their choices; how dialogue, silence, and body language reveal their inner lives; and how environments – from cozy kitchens to fractured worlds – leave lasting imprints on who they are. By the end, you’ll walk away with a layered protagonist (or central character) who feels authentic, human, and alive – someone your readers or viewers will follow anywhere.

Please note: This class or event will be held online (using Zoom or a similar live platform). To participate, students or attendees should have a stable internet connection. Class participants: you should have a computer or device with a webcam and microphone; and your Zoom link will be automatically sent to you after you register.
