This is a collection of poems, 1 short story, or 1-2 chapters of prose (20 pages maximum for poetry, 30 for prose, if this is not enough email me) that you'd like to work on during your mentorship. Consider your choice carefully, this piece of writing will be graded to measure your progress in the program and will be the only piece you work on with your mentor, which will be reviewed and revised with them at least three times. It will also be part of what you pitch to the agents and editors at the final Conference Day.
