Hello everyone,

This is my first time in the Muse Chat Room, and I'm excited about talking about my only true passion in life- writing. While in my twenties, I held onto the aspiration of becoming a novelist; it is the reason I went on to pursue a degree in English. Unfortunately, the years have ticked by and now at the ripe old-age of thirty-three, I have yet to get serious about writing a book. I have the story in me along with it's potential characters. But as someone else has said before me, I really don't know where to begin. I have attempted several times to write stories, but they soon end up as an incomplete saved computer file. I do believe I would enjoy and benefit in taking a class at the Muse center. Does anyone have any advise for me?

I like to tell stories. Most of them are about my life and experiences. Many of my friends enjoy the stories and suggest I should write them down. I joke that I will 'write a book', but I don't know how to start. I have a jornalism, english composition background (in my college coursework) but I have been working for 30 years in an unrelated business environment. Is a community college creative writing class worthwhile, or will it just frustrate me with structure and style critisism?

In the end, I would like to write some of these down just for my kids and family. Any suggestions on how to begin?

Is anyone still involved with the Muse? Are there still readings and classes going on?
